Tue 14th April 2026, AMA Social Get-Together
As usual, the Baptist church hall was the venue for The AMA's much looked forward to social event. We began with a 'show and tell' where several members brought along examples of their work and talked enthusiastically about them. This was followed by a spread of delicious nibbles and a few drinks.
The evening ended with some live and lively music provided by:
Michael Luntley (guitar and vocals}
Maura Barnett (fiddle, ukelele and vocals)
Sheila Graham (bodhran—which is an Irish drum—and vocals)
Alan Graham (tin whistle and ukulele).

13th Jan 2026, Caroline Walsh-Waring
Caroline is a member of the Visual Artists Association and she has exhibited her work extensively across both local and national platforms.
Caroline describes her oil paintings as emerging from a world where emotion meets motivation—a realm she calls enigmatic surrealism. Her work is '… not simply about visual aesthetics, but about stories, sensations and the mysteries that stir within us all'.
Caroline is a member of the Visual Artists Association and she has exhibited her work extensively across both local and national platforms.

10th February, 2026, Julie de Bastion
Julie studied Painting at Central School of Art London 1966/7 as well as Painting and Printmaking in New York 1979/83.
Her works have been shown in the UK (including MOMA ), New York, the Stattmuseum in Berlin as well as Leamington Art Gallery.
Her paintings are informed by landscape motifs, depicting a poetic and personal response to the 'Spirit of Place'. This is as much an internal space as an external one.
In 2024, Julie founded Own Books, an innovative book recycling project to help children have their own books at home.

Susan Watt is a collage artist who ‘paints with paper’. She has recently shown work at East Lodge and was a joint LSA prize winner of Warwickshire Plein Air Competition in 2025.

… a great opportunity to exhibit in the centre of Leamington!
The space is ideal for 2D artists but there are 4 tables available for 3D work. If you would like to take part, please follow the links provided in the current newsletter and return your completed form by 11th August.

Several of our members have entered work into this exhibition - I hope many of us will get to go and see it!
A Private View will take place Thursday 21 August, 5.00-8.00 pm in the Sir William Blake Richmond Gallery.
All exhibiting artists will be invited to attend.

March 25th, 2025: Terry Webster's Studio Sale took place at Griffin's Auction House. The event was a great success and most of the 125 items on sale were sold.
There is a possibility of another sale later in the year. Watch this space for updates.

Tuesday May 13th, 2025: Social Gathering cancelled!
Our plans to hold a social gathering with refreshments and entertainment came to a juddering halt at the last minute. Sadly this had to be cancelled because, that morning, a crash involving two cars damaged the entrance to the Baptist Church.
* Tuesday 8th April 2025: John Hunt — my approach to drawing.
* Tuesday March 11th 2025: Maddie Webb — a Leamington painter telling her story.
Unfortunately, this talk had to be cancelled due to illness.
* February 11th, 2025: Brian Dickinson — stained glass
Brian has been making stained glass for over 20 years, mostly as a stress beating hobby. A few years ago, he started a career change to become a professional artist. His focus is modern contemporary stained glass for businesses and families. There was also a short talk by Maddie Webb MA of Lighthaus Arts, (lighthausarts.com) a local artist who is involved with putting together a bid for the new art hub on Clemens Street in Leamington.

work and influences from her recent time in India.

Our get-together for an evening of music, food and fun which was held as usual at the Baptist Church Hall.
